SAATEN-UNION have many different breeding programs to suit all areas of Europe and beyond. The UK takes most of its material from the northern European breeding program.
In the UK the breeder will send new material every year for pre-NL screening and then enter lines of spring oat into the UK official system. This provides a robust program of material suitable for the UK market.
End users in the UK recognise SAATEN-UNION spring oats as a good product to use through their mills. The variety Canyon is used by many end Users including Quaker/PepsiCo. More recently the variety Lion is getting noticed due to its outstanding quality, good specific weight, and high Kernel content. (See Presentation)
