Breeding programmes

Besides classical plant breeding, modern biotechnology methods are increasingly used, such as double haploid techniques and marker assisted breeding which facilitate faster practical use to be made of breeding research.

Aim of Breeding Increase in yield performance and stability at different intensity levels of cultivation as well as the increase in nutrinional balance and quality characteristics in line with real market conditions.
Main points of emphasis
  1. Increase in yield potential and nutritional efficiency
  2. Resistance oriented breeding of all varieties against major pathogenic agents
  3. Breeding for quality:
    Wheat (Baking and Feed)
    Triticale (Feed)
    Barley (Malting and Feed)
Oats (low spelt quota, high TGW) Pulses
    Maize
  4. Agronomic characteristics (hardiness, stability)
