History



 
In 1910 Karl von Schultz started breeding and marketing varieties of cereals, legumes, oilseed, rape an dfodder beet. Trend setting varieties emerged, first at the estate at Granskevitz on the island of Rügen, and after 1945 in Schleswig-Holstein.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1910 Beginning of the multiplication of seeds of Swedish cereal varieties within the scope of the Deutsch-Schwedische Saatzucht GmbH (founded in 1920)
1928 After the bankruptcy of this company: Foundation of the Norddeutsche Saatbau AG for the marketing of Swedish varieties in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg, Pomerania, Brandenburg, Border March based on a contract with Svalöf. Head of Plant Breeding: Mr. Schneider
1938 Transformation into Norddeutsche Saatzucht KG v. Schultz-Granskevitz
Until 1945

Own varieties: spring barley Morgenrot, Siegeshafer, peas Nordsaat and Lucienhofer winter peas. Maintenance breeding and marketing of Swedish varieties of winter wheat, oat, spring barley, peas, sweet vetch, rape and fodder beet. Seed multiplication on up to 15,000 ha.

Establishment of a nationalised farm with a Plant Breeding Station. Transfer of the breeding station of Granskevitz to Waterneverstorff

1982 Resumption of oat breeding  
1991 Nordsaat buys the plant breeders

The company""s headquarter is transferred from Waterneverstorff to Böhnshausen/Langenstein and the cereal breeding to Granskevitz and Böhnshausen.
